Continual improvement of compressor aerodynamic parameters

Our engineers continuously strive to improve the aerodynamic properties of compressors and adjust them to the optimum.

                Titanium compressor wheel

The existing trend in commercial diesel engines (”downsizing”) increases, among others, requirements for the service life and the strength of the used materials. With extreme cyclic loading in some applications, the turbochargers service life is limited by the aluminium alloy compressor wheel. The answer is to use a titan alloy compressor wheel. The circumferential velocity of this wheel reaches 600 m/s, it has great strength and safety and achieves higher compressions.

From 3D model to a functional prototype by the “Rapid Prototyping” method

To be able to flexibly respond to the increasing requirements of our clients for specific answers in very short times, we have started using the “rapid prototyping” method in the prototype compressor and turbine housings.

                LCF

We are looking at the issue of low cycle fatigue of material and fatigue failures in a long term use together with leading Czech fractography scientists. In 2014 we built a long-term test laboratory for testing or simulating turbo cyclic loading. The results are reflected in our further development of the manufacturing process.

                Vaned diffuser

The vaned diffuser consists of stationary blades surrounding the compressor wheel to shorten the streamlines in the diffuser for an up to 4% improvement in efficiency of compressor. It is recommended for engines with narrow working characteristic (e.g. generators).
